Parties can be fun. A few things help you and your friends keep options:
- Stick with your people, and agree how you'll leave.
- Keeping an eye on your drink is one option. If someone harms you anyway, it's never your fault.
Alcohol or other substances can affect judgment, balance, awareness, memory, talking, noticing changes, and being able to leave.
Get emergency help right away if you or a friend:
- is much more affected than expected
- can't stay awake
- has trouble breathing
- seems seriously unwell
Drinking, using, being somewhere you weren't supposed to be, or lying about where you were never means you shouldn't call for help.
If a friend is becoming separated from the group or leaving with someone they just met, stay connected if it's safe and bring in a safe adult or staff member.
