Roots and trusted people
Families come in a lot of shapes: parents, grandparents, stepfamily, foster or adoptive family, aunts, uncles, cousins, one parent, no parents, or people who became family over time.
Your roots can also include teachers, coaches, neighbors, faith communities, friends' families and anyone who has cared for you well.
Two things can both be true:
- Family isn't automatically right.
- Family isn't automatically dangerous.
What matters most is how people treat you over time, not their title.
Optional · Faith
Community can be a gift. Loyalty never requires you to stay close to harm.
