When distance is being built
Sometimes a person tries to put distance between you and the people who care about you. It might sound like:
“They don't understand you like I do.”
Sometimes that's even partly true. People do feel misunderstood. What matters is what comes next: are you being encouraged to keep your people, or to pull away from them?
You don't owe closeness to anyone who asks you to give up everyone else. If you notice this happening, tell someone outside that relationship.
